Antique Nomadic Rug Iran/afghanistan, Early 20th Century, 140 × 84 Cm
Nomadic oriental rug, probably Beluch, woven by the Baluch tribes settled between eastern Iran and western Afghanistan. The piece features a cotton warp and a hand-knotted wool pile, in keeping with the artisanal tradition preserved within pastoral communities.
The central field, organized around a strictly symmetrical vertical axis, is enlivened by stylized geometric and floral motifs. These elements are often interpreted as evocations of fertility, protection, and cosmic harmony.
The border is structured by a sequence of repeating motifs.
