An iconic watch from the prestigious Geneva-based manufacturer Universal, the Polerouter model, in steel, in its Jet version, from 1955. This watch, launched in 1954, was designed to withstand the magnetic fields of the North Pole. Universal supplied these automatic watches to pilots of Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) for their commercial flights, the first of which took place on November 15, 1954, flying from Copenhagen to Los Angeles, passing over the North Pole. It was in the spring of 1954 that Universal presented its "Polerouter" with a micro-rotor movement, which, thanks to the miniaturization of this oscillating weight, allowed for a smaller overall size for the watch. This new caliber would equip watches from 1955 onwards, making this one of the very first designed by the manufacturer. The POLEROUTER's meticulously designed case was created by the legendary Gerald Genta. This is the JET version, with a different design, and highly sought after by collectors. The watch is signed on the dial, case back, and movement, and is numbered. The crown is also signed.
