Superb and rare late 15th-century sculpture of the Holy Trinity with Saint Anne. This sculpture of the Holy Trinity with Saint Anne is also sometimes called Saint Anne in Third Place or Saint Anne in Three. It is a Christian iconographic theme formerly known as Saint Anne, the Virgin, and the Child. It is a devotional image associating the grandmother Anne, the mother Mary, and the Infant Jesus. In this particular case, the large Saint Anne holds the Infant Jesus on her lap, accompanied by Mary. The sculpture is quite delicate and includes old repairs and imperfections, which give it charm and authenticity. The patina is original, warm, and soft. A quality piece in its original state of preservation.
