Folding tripod microscope, preserved in its compartmented case comprising: an optical tube, 3 lenses and three objectives, one with a blackened eyepiece for use as a simple microscope with its high-power objective cap, a single-sided reflecting mirror, a live box, a condensing magnifier, and insect forceps that can be attached to the stage, as well as three bone-mounted slide holders, one for a blank slide and two others containing microscopic preparations under mica. The square-column stand has a movable stage with rack and pinion focusing.
A fine model, certainly English, similar to those made by William Cary and Charles Gould in the first half of the 19th century, although this model does not attach to the case lid but folds completely.
Case equipped of its key.
