Born Bresson, Renée Tournan was a French painter born in Algiers. In Paris, she studied under Fernand Sabatté and Georges d'Espagnat and exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1937. She married in 1938 and from then on signed her work "Renée Tournan." She exhibited in Paris in 1941 at the Galerie Lefranc and continued to paint picturesque scenes of Parisian life into the 1950s and 1960s.
