Empire Style Inkwell, Marble And Gilt Bronze. “lion”.
A rectangular inkwell in sea-green marble, adorned with gilt bronze mounts and a finely chiseled lion with a black/brown patina. The front is decorated with a long palmette, and garlands of pearls accentuate the bases of the three main elements. The two inkwells feature a delicate grid and foliage design, each containing a glass cup. The whole rests on four feet. Empire style, dating from the Napoleon III period, circa 1880.
