A very fine Louis XV period walnut commode with a serpentine front. Made in the Dauphiné region, Grenoble.
It opens to reveal three large drawers. Beautiful original Rococo-style handles, asymmetrical, in finely chased gilt bronze, decorated with acanthus leaves and foliage.
The uprights are carved with shells, flowers, and acanthus leaves and terminate in hoof-shaped feet.
The lower rail is decorated with a richly carved, drop shell. It is surrounded by scrolls, gadroons, and acanthus leaves. The top is made of natural wood with a corbelled edge. The sides are chapel-shaped.
Typical of the Dauphiné region, and although unstamped, this chest of drawers displays all the characteristics and assembly techniques of Pierre Hache.
