"Antique Silver-plated Metal Display Stand, 1900-1915, Thouret Silversmiths"
Rare and magnificent antique condiment or egg cup stand, circa 1900-1915, Art Nouveau style, in silver-plated metal, French production hallmarked THOURET. The square-based model, resting on four feet, features an original design with four main round compartments and four smaller secondary compartments. It bears several hallmarks, including the framed maker's mark "A T", an anchor and a star, a hallmark number 14 corresponding to the silver plating quality index, and the number 20974, indicating a model or a production run. It measures 15 x 15 cm and is approximately 23.5 cm high. The larger compartments are 5.6-5.7 cm in diameter, two smaller compartments are 1.8 cm in diameter, and two smaller compartments are 1.5 cm in diameter. In good condition. Antique, cleaned, but retains a certain patina. The silver-plated metal shows natural wear, with occasional abrasions revealing the underlying metal, copper or brass, particularly on some edges. These are subtle, and there are also a few stains, small oxidations, and old scratches from repeated cleaning. The piece is slightly wobbly on one foot. The base can be unscrewed from underneath. It is quite heavy, weighing approximately 400-500 grams.
