Civic reward sword – Franco-Prussian War of 1870. Presented to Chevalier Pagel, mayor of L'Isle-Saint-Denis, at the end of the siege of Saint-Denis during the Franco-Prussian War. Alexis Jean-Baptiste Pagel was mayor from 1843 to 1879. The blade is made of richly engraved steel and is 76 cm long. The inscription reads: "The National Guard and the grateful inhabitants to Chevalier Pagel, mayor of L'Isle-Saint-Denis." The hilt is made of silver-gilt silver with an eagle motif. The grip is made of mother-of-pearl. The scabbard is made of original white leather. The overall length is 90 cm.
