Tapestry Brussels XVII.

A Louis XIV period tapestry panel from Brussels; this interesting and very fine tapestry depicts Perseus, dressed in his armor and Hades' helmet, smiling victoriously, presenting the severed head of Medusa at his feet. Perseus appears to be unusually supported by Jupiter, recognizable by his attributes: the thunderbolt, the eagle, and the crown. The presence of a hand visible on the right edge suggests a larger original composition and a greater number of figures.
