Very Large Rectangular Platter With Scalloped Edges, In Fine Cream-glazed Earthenware, Signed Minton
Artist: Minton
A very large rectangular platter with scalloped edges, made of fine cream-glazed earthenware, decorated with a painted polychrome floral motif composed of yellow and burgundy flowers and grey-brown foliage arranged in asymmetrical garlands. The center is adorned with a molded decoration in low relief (scrolls and foliage), characteristic of decorative productions from the second half of the 19th century, particularly English ceramics, such as Nantgarw and Minton porcelain. The style of the decoration—naturalistic, delicate, with muted colors—evokes English productions: Nantgarw and Minton ceramics inspired by Victorian taste. The rectangular shape suggests use as a serving platter, presentation tray, or meat platter. Condition: Good overall condition. Signs of use and small, old stains consistent with age. No visible cracks or major chips. Glaze well preserved. 53 x 40 x 7 cm. Signed under the base.
