"Pair Of Ionic Order Pilasters In Solid Oak – 20th Century. "
A beautiful pair of decorative pilasters in solid oak, carved from wood left in its natural finish, revealing a warm grain and the high quality of the material. This is a fine 20th-century piece, classically inspired, directly derived from the vocabulary of ancient and neoclassical architecture. Each pilaster features a fluted shaft accentuating its verticality and is embellished beneath the capital with sculpted vegetal motifs, lending elegance and refinement to the whole. The Ionic capitals are particularly well-crafted and faithful to the tradition of this architectural order: well-proportioned lateral volutes, egg-and-dart and beadwork decoration, molded astragals, and a curved cornice emphasizing the architectural lines. The Ionic order, renowned for its balance between sobriety and decorative richness, is perfectly interpreted here. More slender than the Doric order, it gives the pilasters an impression of lightness and distinction, traditionally sought after in classical interior design. These pilasters were designed for distinctive interior design and are ideally suited for: framing a door, fireplace, or alcove; recomposing wood paneling; decorating a shop, window display, or stage design; or as standalone decorative elements in a classic or eclectic interior. Two pairs are available, from the same set, and are identical in model, dimensions, and patina. Note: the pilasters can easily be cut to size in height, as the shaft is solid and structurally unconstrained, allowing for easy adaptation to various design projects. Dimensions (per pilaster): Total height: 222 cm; Pilaster width: 23 cm; Pilaster thickness: 2.8 cm; Capital width: 39 cm; Capital thickness: 10 cm. Condition: Very good overall condition. Some slight signs of wear and minor old marks, without affecting the sturdiness or aesthetic appeal. Beautiful natural patina of solid oak.
