From 1936 to 1944, after his studies, Gaston Sébire worked nights at the Rouen post office so he could devote his days to painting. After settling in Paris in 1951, while remaining attached to his native Normandy, Gaston Sébire designed the costumes and sets for Cuevas's "L'Ange gris" in 1953. From the 1960s onward, he regularly participated in group exhibitions: the Salon des Indépendants; the Salon d'Automne; the Salon Comparaisons; the Salon des Artistes Français; and the Salon d'Angers. He also participated in various exhibitions of the School of Paris at the Galerie Charpentier in Paris between 1953 and 1961. In 1957, Gaston Sébire returned to Normandy, where he settled with his family. From 1965 onwards, he exhibited at the Wally Findlay Galleries in New York, Paris, and Chicago. Winner of the Prix de la Critique in 1953 and the Prix Greenshields in 1957, he received the Gold Medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1968.
