The famous Roemer glasses, whose name means “Rhine wine glasses,” are traditionally presented in a set of six matching colors. This tradition originates from the earliest examples, which were Alsace wine glasses representing six grape varieties, each color intended to symbolize one. Made from clear crystal, they are then coated with a layer of color. Through the cutting process, the original transparent crystal is revealed, enhancing the striking contrast between the rich, deep colors and the magical sparkle of the crystal.
