Henri Vincent-anglade (1876-1956), Poster Design "the Gas".
Artist: Henri Vincent-anglade (1876-1956)
Henri Vincent-Anglade, a French portraitist and advertising illustrator whose works were published in leading magazines of the time, exhibited regularly at the Paris International Horse Show and at French art fairs. He studied under Gustave Moreau, Fernand Corom, and François Flameng at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, as well as under Amable Pinta. He created numerous advertising poster designs, notably for Peugeot automobiles. Our poster mock-up, "Le Gaz" (Gas), on tracing paper, is executed in ink and gouache and highlights the use of this energy source in a modern laundry at the beginning of the 20th century. It is in good overall condition, with some creases and traces of old threads securing the tracing paper to its backing. Note the slight, localized discoloration of the mat (see photo).
