Louis XV Style Lyonnaise Commode In Walnut With A Curved Front. Crowned Bronze Mounts, Rhône Valley, 18th Century.
Magnificent Louis XV period Lyonnaise commode in solid walnut. The front features three richly molded and carved superimposed drawers, their ends adorned with stylized shells, and their centers with flowers and foliage. The wooden top is embellished with a corbel molding. The commode, with its curved front, is adorned with magnificent original handles and keyhole escutcheons in finely chased bronze, surmounted by a royal crown with fleurs-de-lis, the symbol of the Kingdom of France. The sides are double-paneled. The front legs are cabriole. Note the very old repairs to the two rear legs, as well as a reinforcement (see photos). The piece is sold without a key.
