Figurative Sculpture – Dancer – Austin Productions, 1950-1960
Figurative sculpture – female dancer – Austin Productions
Large figurative sculpture depicting a female dancer in motion, with one arm raised above the head in a dynamic contrapposto pose.
Made of dark-patinated plaster, mounted on a solid oak base, and marked “AUSTIN PROD” in the base.
This sculpture can be attributed to Austin Productions Inc., a well-known American publisher active in the mid-20th century, recognized for its modern decorative figures inspired by dance and the classical nude. Austin models were most commonly produced in resin or composite materials with a bronze-style finish; plaster examples are less common and are often associated with production models or early editions.
