Born in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, in 1933, Ady demonstrated artistic talent from an early age, which allowed her to join the Zeuthen Keramik workshop at the age of 16 in 1949. Zeuthen Keramik was founded in 1946 in Gentofte, near Copenhagen, by Normann Zeuthen, and operated under the name Zeuthen Keramik from 1948. The workshop employed between 10 and 15 people. Zeuthen pottery became known for its utilitarian and domestic works in red earth, decorated with floral motifs, stars, dots, and other decorative patterns, in white relief glaze or slip, on a smooth, unglazed red earth.
