Antique Speculoos Mold – 19th Century
Rare and authentic antique speculaas mold, hand-carved in fruitwood, depicting an elegant standing young woman, traditionally referred to as a jonkvrouw or bride in folk iconography.
The figure wears a finely pleated Empire/Biedermeier-style dress with puffed sleeves and a floral central motif. In her left hand she holds a small purse, symbolizing domestic virtue and prosperity, while her right hand points toward the central decorative panel. The expressive face and leaf-adorned headwear reflect skilled artisanal craftsmanship.
This mold was used for traditional figural speculaas baking. It shows a beautiful aged patina with wear consistent with its age and historical use. The reverse bears an old carved mark.
