National Guard Officer's Or Non-commissioned Officer's Kepi 1870 Second Empire
Kepi in medium-weight blue cloth, trimmed with 3/4 mm silver braid.
Square visor, 3.5 cm, likely made of cardboard lined with varnished leather on top and sheepskin underneath (some missing pieces).
Interior in brown satinette, with a formerly varnished leather sweatband.
Four cardboard reinforcements are present to maintain the kepi's shape.
Silver metal number 7, 20 mm high.
No trefoil braid on the top, suggesting a junior officer or non-commissioned officer, as regulations were somewhat inconsistent in 1870.
This kepi has a very pronounced truncated conical shape, and the cloth is in very good condition.
Height at the front: 8 cm, height at the back: 15 cm.
