"Large Covered Decorative Vase With Lion Heads, Le Tallec Factory – Paris, 20th Century "
Large covered decorative vase with lion heads, Le Tallec Manufactory – Paris, 20th century. Polychrome decoration entirely hand-painted with gilt highlights. This important covered decorative vase of great presence rests on a molded foot and retains its original lid. It is adorned with two gilt lion heads in relief applied to the body, in a distinctly neoclassical style. The vase is enriched with a polychrome decoration entirely hand-painted, without any printing process, composed of foliate scrolls, colored volutes, floral garlands, and a central antique vase, executed with finesse and regularity. The whole is inspired by the grand decorative models of the 18th century, in the tradition of decorative renewal so dear to the Le Tallec firm. The gilding, also applied by hand, highlights the moldings, friezes, fluting, and relief elements, bringing depth, brilliance, and refinement to the piece. The finely sculpted, gilded lion heads lend character and decorative power to the piece, clearly referencing antique and Empire-inspired ornamentation. Beneath the base is the Le Tallec factory mark, in the form of an interlaced “TL” monogram painted in blue, corresponding to the firm's earliest signatures, used before the later introduction of the red handwritten inscriptions. This detail is an important authentication element for enthusiasts and collectors. Dimensions: Total height with lid: 37 cm; Maximum diameter: 17 cm. Condition: Good overall condition. The hand-painted decoration is well preserved, with fresh and harmonious colors. The gilding is present with slight wear in places, consistent with the age and decorative nature of the piece. No major chips or visible cracks. The lid fits snugly. A large, high-quality decorative covered vase, representative of the Parisian craftsmanship of the Le Tallec company, ideal for a console, a sideboard or a classic composition, bringing elegance, presence and refinement to an interior.
