"Rosewood Marquetry Commode, Regency Style, Napoleon III Period – Mid-19th Century"
This magnificent small 19th-century Regency commode captivates with its elegance and refinement. Crafted from finely worked rosewood marquetry arranged in a herringbone pattern, it features a curved, bow-fronted front, a testament to remarkable cabinetmaking skill. This rare piece is crowned with a superb, undulating red breccia marble top, framed by a corbel molding that underscores the piece's nobility. The bombé front houses four tall, generously sized drawers, adorned with drop handles in chased bronze, forming applied flowers. At the center of each drawer, a richly crafted gilt-bronze keyhole escutcheon catches the eye. It is functional and comes with its original key. The rounded uprights are characterized by brass fluting that softens the lines, while the gracefully curved lower rail is embellished with beautiful foliate bronze mounts. The straight feet are decorated with exquisite openwork bronze ornamentation. This decorative yet functional chest of drawers will find its place in both classic and contemporary interiors, where it will add a touch of history and character.**********Period: Mid-19th century.
