Jean van Wel (Uccle, 1906-1990).
Belgian painter, watercolorist, and draftsman working within the poetic realism movement but with a post-expressionist style. His subjects include racetracks, landscapes, cityscapes, and still lifes. He studied at Saint-Luc in Saint-Gilles. He evolved from expressionism towards a poetic style reminiscent of Raoul Dufy. His painting is spontaneous and brilliant, with an explosion of vibrant colors. Numerous exhibitions at the Galerie Manteau and the Galerie Horizon.
