Artist: Aeschbacher Arthur
Arthur Aeschbacher or Arthur Aesbacher, born April 3, 1923 in Geneva and died October 10, 2020 in Issy-les-Moulineaux, is a Franco-Swiss painter, sculptor and director, active in France. Painting sculpture, mixed technique collage of letters and painted wooden elements. Signed and dated on the back. Arthur Aeschbacher, a student of Fernand Léger, studied successively at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, and in Paris at the École du Louvre, the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and the Académie Julian. He works with torn posters, to use them as pictorial material [ref. necessary. The scraps of posters are used for formal recompositions. Work on typography subsequently becomes the center of interest of his work. His work on the explosion of typography made him, in the words of Pierre Restany, "a poster artist who is not a new realist." He was named a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
