Maud GÉRARD (Sydenham- England, 1915 – Brussels, 2013)
Belgian painter, studied at the Henriette BOSCHÉ studio in 1931. Entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 1931. Studied painting with Anto Carte from 1935 to 1937. Obtained a scholarship to study painting in Paris from 1936-1937. Winner of the annual painting competition of the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 1937. Studied with Isidore OPSOMER at the Antwerp Institute of Painting. She was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1941 and stayed at the Villa Medici. Exhibition at the Galerie de la Licorne in Brussels in 1942. Solo exhibition at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1948. Exhibition at the Galerie Breughel in Brussels in 1952 and 1955. She traveled extensively to Europe, Africa, New York, Washington, and South America. June 2015: The Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, thanks to the generosity of its Society of Friends, acquired one of her works.
