Gaston Haustrate, born in 1878 in Brussels and died in 1949 in Brussels, was a Belgian painter of city views, landscapes, port scenes, and portraits. A student at the Academy of Brussels, he specialized in depicting old neighborhoods, dead ends, and alleyways in Brussels, depicted in fluid plays of light and shadow. Member of the Le Sillon group from 1899. His paintings are in Brussels at the Ixelles Museum, the Charlier Museum, and in Ostend at the Museum of Art aan Zee.
The statue of Charles of Lorraine, Governor General of the Austrian Netherlands, is erected on the Museum Square in Brussels (Belgium).
