A beautiful engraving depicting a typical Dutch interior, sold framed. This engraving is signed Jules Benoit Levy Hollande 1904, in the plate at the bottom right. It is countersigned in the lower margin, at the bottom left by the painter Jules Benoit Levy and at the bottom right by the engraver Edmond Jules Pennequin. Edmond Jules Pennequin: French engraver, born in Lille, he was a student of Léon Bonnet (1833-1922) and Jules Jacquet (1841-1913). He debuted at the Salon of 1898 and contributed to art journals. Jules Benoit Levy: Painter, engraver, and illustrator, born February 27, 1866, in Paris and died March 14, 1952, in Nogent-sur-Marne. He received a medal in 1895, an honorable mention in 1901, and a final one in 1911. He exhibited, notably in Paris, around fifty paintings created during a stay in the Netherlands, depicting daily life and typical interiors, like our engraving.
