"19th Century Orthodox Icon With "all-seeing Eye" "
Unique and refined Orthodox icon, created on a carved wooden panel and painted in tempera. At the center of the icon is the Seeing Eye (Всевидящее Око Божие in Russian), an Orthodox Christian iconography representing God's omniscience and omnipresence. The Divine Eye, at the center, is inserted into a complex structure of circles and geometric figures, evoking the mystery of the Trinity and the cosmic order, which recall the celestial hierarchies, the Trinity, and divine glory. At the center, inserted within a circle, is the figure of Christ, indicating the connection between the Incarnate Word and divine omniscience. The symbols of the four Evangelists are depicted on the four sides. Russian manufacture, likely from a provincial school, 19th century.
