Gallé Vase With Seaweed Design, Art Nouveau
Artist: Emile Gallé
Several layers of glass bring this small, tapered vase to life with its Japanese-inspired design. It features an abundant, finely engraved, swirling decoration of seaweed in motion, in a deep oxblood color against an intense yellow/orange background. The vase has a beautiful, slightly glossy finish. Signed "Gallé" on the body. Art Nouveau period, 1900/1910. Superb color contrast. A very beautiful naturalistic decoration with intense colors! Note that a vase with the same decoration and colors was acquired several years ago by the Communauté de communes du Pays de Bitche, Maison du Verre et du Cristal (Meisenthal). Height: 13 cm.
