Important Louis XIII Style Renaissance Ceremonial Armchair, Leather Seat And Back, 19th Century.

A very important ceremonial armchair in natural waxed wood. With its extraordinary proportions, this exceptional seat rests on four straight, square-section legs, each ending in a wide, molded foot. The two front legs are connected by a magnificent, richly carved and openwork stretcher. It is adorned in its center with a cartouche. The armrest supports are turned in a baluster shape and support very wide, flattened armrests of exceptional width, allowing for the placement of various objects. Two charming consoles depicting grotesques join the backrest to the armrests. The seat, as well as the backrest, are made of very thick leather and are in very good condition. Note a few minor wear marks, scratches, and small cracks, which are perfectly normal and due to use. The top of the backrest is decorated with two large, gadrooned bronze finials. The leather sections are embellished with beautiful brass shell and rosette ornamentation. This chair has a very solid structure. It is an exceptional 19th-century piece.
