Signed lower left, dedicated and titled on the reverse.
Born in Martigues, Ferdinand Olivier trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was a student of Eugène Carrière.
He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1904, then at the Salon d'Automne as well as in Parisian galleries such as Bernheim, Druet, and Charpentier.
Between 1913 and 1924, he had solo exhibitions in Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Argentina...
Attached to his native land, he painted landscapes of the South of France, Marseille, and especially Martigues, in a structured Post-Impressionist style, as seen in this painting, which is very characteristic of his talent.
