"Set Of 12 Antique Silver-gilt And Mother-of-pearl Knives – Lavallée Goldsmith, Paris – Late 19th Century"
A set of 12 antique vermeil (gilt silver) and mother-of-pearl table knives, made by Lavallée Orfèvre – F. Nicloud, successor, located at 19 Boulevard de Strasbourg in Paris. The blades are vermeil, bearing the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark (950/1000). The handles are natural mother-of-pearl, each adorned with the monogram “DB”. The set is presented in its original red leather case with metal clasps, and the inner lid is marked with the gilt “DB”. A characteristic piece from the late 19th/early 20th century, representative of Parisian silversmithing of that period.
