"Pair Of Antique Embroideries, Probably Designed By Kishi Chikudō (1826–1897)"
A set of two large, finely embroidered textile panels, each depicting tigers in a landscape of river and bamboo. The thread work is particularly meticulous, with subtle gradations that render the fur, the reflections on the water, and the vegetation with great expressiveness. Floral fabric borders harmoniously frame each composition. The panels bear an embroidered signature, suggesting a probable attribution to Kishi Chikudō (1826–1897), a Japanese painter of the Kishi school, renowned for his animal depictions and naturalistic scenes. Condition: minor wear to the fabric and some alterations to the borders. Dimensions: 77 × 120 cm each.
