Siegfried (known as Samuel) Bing, an industrialist and later a dealer in Japanese art (he counted Van Gogh and Monet among his regular visitors), was himself a collector.
He played an important role in the evolution of decorative arts towards Art Nouveau in France at the end of the 19th century.
His collection comprised 951 lots of art and everyday objects from Japan, China, and Korea.

6 folio volumes, paperback, printed covers folded in a publisher's portfolio.
Complete sale catalogue of the 6 booklets:
1- Sculptures (nos. 1-32) and Noh masks (nos. 33-45), 2 heliogravure plates and numerous reproductions in the text and full-page.

2. Lacquers (nos. 46-120), inrō (nos. 121-137), and combs (nos. 138-156): 8 heliogravure plates and numerous reproductions in the text and full-page illustrations.

3. Ceramics (China, Korea, and Japan) (nos. 157-490): 3 heliogravure plates and numerous reproductions in the text and full-page illustrations.

4. Bronzes and weapons (China and Japan, including tsuba) (nos. 491-606): 2 heliogravure plates and numerous reproductions in the text and full-page illustrations.

5 - Netsuke (nos. 607-685), pipe cases (686-689), tobacco pouches and pouch ornaments (nos. 690-693), fans (nos. 694-709) and fabrics (nos. 710-812), 2 heliogravure plates outside the text and numerous reproductions in the text and full-page illustrations.

6 - Paintings (nos. 813-951), 4 heliogravure plates outside the text and numerous reproductions in the text and full-page illustrations (worn cover).

Included are three art journals dated 1906, which provide information about the sale and were originally inside the dust jacket.
