BIOGRAPHY:
Berthe Morisot born in 1841 in Bourges and died in 1895 in Paris, is a French painter, co-founder and dean of the avant-garde movement that was Impressionism. Within the Impressionist group, she arouses the admiration and respect of her peers. Berthe Morisot is a "rebel". Turning her back on academic teaching at a very young age, she founded with Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas the avant-garde group "Artistes Anonymes Associés", which will become the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers bringing together Impressionists.
Her desire to break with traditions, the transcendence of her models, and her talent make her "the great lady of painting" according to the historian Anne Higonne
