Desk Set or Necessary, Decorated with Cherubs and Cupids. The set comprises three elements: - A round, spherical inkwell in garnet-lacquered metal, containing a white porcelain inkwell with a gilt rim. Two cherubs support the sphere with gilt draperies. - Two candlesticks, each composed of a Cupid carrying a gilt sphere on his back, itself surmounted by a garnet-lacquered metal candle holder. - A metal pen case accompanied by a putto and gilt bronze drapery. The set consists of four pieces in silvered, gilt, and patinated bronze; parts in garnet-lacquered metal. Napoleon III period, late 19th century. Dimensions of the inkwell: 11 x 8.5 x 7.5 cm; candlesticks: height 13 cm; pen case: 16.5 x 6 x 5 cm. Minor wear to the patina, otherwise in good condition.
