"Multi-layered Glass Vase Signed Gallé, With Acid-etched Plant Decoration, Made Around 1900."
Émile Gallé (1846–1904) Art Nouveau Vase, Nancy School. This multi-layered glass vase, signed Gallé, features acid-etched vegetal decoration and was made around 1900. The piece has a baluster shape resting on a circular pedestal of aubergine-brown tinted glass. The body, made of pale yellow glass with a satin finish, is adorned with a finely rendered naturalistic decoration, achieved by acid-etching the upper layers of the glass. The decoration stands out in shades of purplish-brown and green, creating a subtle interplay of relief and transparency. The motif depicts a stylized botanical design, composed of ginkgo biloba leaves, recognizable by their fan shape, combined with fern fronds, an emblematic theme of Émile Gallé's decorative repertoire and the naturalist aesthetic of the Nancy School. The signature "Gallé" is acid-etched in cursive script on the body.
