Gilt Bronze Double Inkwell, First Empire, XIXᵉ Century
Elegant double inkwell in finely chased gilt bronze, of oblong form, resting on four feet decorated with scrolls and shells. The frame is richly adorned with rocaille motifs, foliage and stylized shells, characteristic of the eclectic and refined taste of the Empire period.
The set includes two ink reservoirs fitted with their knob-grip lids, decorated with delicate chasing work. A central covered compartment completes the composition, designed to hold blotting sand or various writing accessories.
