He came from a prestigious education at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was a student of Émile Thomas and Mathurin Moreau. A member of the Salon des artistes français, he was awarded an honorable mention in 1889 and a 3rd class medal in 1892, as well as a mention at the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
