"Anne Bulliot, 20th-century Sigillata Ceramic Sculpture"
A ceramic sculpture in terra sigillata by Anne Bulliot (born in 1961), a French ceramicist trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, graduating in 1985. This work reflects a non-functional sculptural approach, characteristic of her practice. The piece is hand-modeled and covered with terra sigillata slip, giving the surface a smooth, satiny appearance after polishing and firing.
The variations in color, ranging from dark tones to warmer hues, are directly related to the clay composition, polishing, and firing processes. Anne Bulliot's work is part of the revival of contemporary French ceramics at the end of the 20th century, where form and material take precedence over function. Her work is held in several French and European public collections.
