Plaster Cast Head, Circa 1920–1930
Head cast in plaster from a model, probably made between the two World Wars, around 1920–1930. The work is part of the cultural events of the time when this type of cast was sometimes presented as a testament to the perception of human diversity. Plaster, a material inherently fragile, exhibited several structural weaknesses and old damage, related to its age and preservation. To ensure its stability and longevity, the cast was consolidated by François-Marie Boudet, a professional restorer based in Saint-Pons-de-Thomières. This object should now be considered a historical and artistic artifact, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities.
