Large Empire-era Samovar In Silver-plated Metal, Early 19th Century
Large silver-plated metal samovar, Empire period or very early Restoration. Elegant vase-shaped model with handles, unusual in size. High-quality silver plating, the plating technique used before silvering by electrolysis results in a much thicker layer of silver plating with a so-called "double" metal. The silver plating is in good condition. Small dents on the lid and top of the samovar with slight deformation. The tap has come unsoldered and is fixed with a metal rod. Minor scratches from use. The screw thread is fixed to the base with resin. The tap handle is missing. A beautiful and rare example of early 19th-century silverware. Formerly in the collection of a château in Southwest France. Guaranteed decorative effect. All questions welcome.
