Edgar Boutry 1857/1938 (Prix de Rome in 1887) Montagutelli Foundryman in Paris (Rodin, Barye) Lost-wax casting. Edgar Henri Boutry was a French sculptor born on January 12, 1857, in Lille and died on February 1, 1938, in Levallois-Perret. Boutry studied under Albert Darcq at the Lille Academy of Fine Arts, then under Jules Cavelier at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He won the second Prix de Rome in 1885 and then the Prix de Rome in 1887. He succeeded Albert Darcq at the Lille Academy of Fine Arts. He received the insignia of Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1903. Edgar Boutry created numerous public monuments. He is, among other things, the author of the War Memorial for the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 in the city of Lille, and of the three bas-reliefs of the War Memorial for the First and Second World Wars in the city of Lille located in front of the Rihour Palace (it bears the following inscription
