Beautiful Writing Desk From Maison Tahan

Beautiful writing desk from the famous Tahan house which is a guarantee of very high quality 34 Rue de la paix à PARIS, which dates it precisely between 1849 and 1866. The upper part with an ogee opens onto the ornate compartments receiving paper, mail, stamps , pencil box, pen holder and inkwells. The sloping lower part opens onto a writing desk lined with blue velvet which itself opens onto a secret compartment. This writing desk is in mahogany, for its interior part. And for the exterior is blackened mahogany embellished with a varnish to the buffer. It is decorated with a very beautiful heraldic coat of arms surrounded by two lions in majesty, all in the center of a very beautiful floral ornamentation and foliage. Very large frieze of cartouches with spandrels ornamented with foliage scrolls in Boulle copper and tortoiseshell marquetry. Many copper threads on all sides. Very good state. Slight detachment of a copper rod on the mold, key missing
