"Late 18th Century Gilded Neoclassical Clock"
Refinedgilded bronze clock with splendid gilding. The piece features classicaldecorations, typical of the period, with festoons and musical instruments. Atthe top, a guitar rests on a musician's stool to the right, while to the leftis a young man standing, intent on playing the flute. Above the dial, a sheetmusic reading "Air des Visitandines," a famous piece from thelate 18th century, usually accompanied by the guitar, is depicted. The dialfeatures Roman numerals and a key for setting the alarms. The wire suspensionmechanism is period and in working order, and the chime plays the hours andhalf-hours. This is a clock of great taste and refinement, capable offurnishing any space with elegance and class. French manufacture, late 18thcentury.
