"Late 18th Century Gilded Neoclassical Clock"
Refined
gilded bronze clock with splendid gilding. The piece features classical
decorations, typical of the period, with festoons and musical instruments. At
the top, a guitar rests on a musician's stool to the right, while to the left
is a young man standing, intent on playing the flute. Above the dial, a sheet
music reading "Air des Visitandines," a famous piece from the
late 18th century, usually accompanied by the guitar, is depicted. The dial
features Roman numerals and a key for setting the alarms. The wire suspension
mechanism is period and in working order, and the chime plays the hours and
half-hours. This is a clock of great taste and refinement, capable of
furnishing any space with elegance and class. French manufacture, late 18th
