"Charles X "tomb" Casket In Lemonwood And Rosewood Marquetry, Circa 1810-20"
For your jewelry and other small treasures, here is a box typical of the Charles X period, dating from the early 19th century. Its sheathed shape, known as a "tomb," is a very characteristic style for the era, as is the choice of woods such as lemonwood and rosewood, both of which are present here. On the slightly convex lid, a finely applied decoration features a garland of flowers surrounding a basket of fruit in the center. Inside covered with decorative paper, slightly used.
