This traditional Turkmen rug showcases the iconic aesthetic of Bokhara rugs from Afghanistan, recognizable by its regular rows of guls – the famous geometric medallions inherited from the Tekke tribes. Its warm background, in shades of reddish-brown and ochre, highlights the delicate design and the perfectly structured rhythm of the motifs.
Handwoven using traditional Central Asian techniques, this rug offers a dense, supple, and durable texture, typical of hand-spun and hand-dyed wool. The multiple, richly decorated borders harmoniously frame the whole and emphasize the traditional character of the piece. Combining elegance, authenticity, and craftsmanship, this Bokhara rug is a decorative piece, ideal for both classic and contemporary interiors. A timeless piece, emblematic of Turkmen textile art.
Size : 350 x 270 cm
Condition : Discoloration is visible in the photos, more noticeable against the pile, but subtle and not pronounced, giving the rug a delicate reddish-orange hue.
A few small white wool flecks are present in places.
The rug remains cohesive overall, and is in good condition for a vintage piece.
*Video available upon request
The rug is currently being restored : the fringes will be completely rewoven on both sides by our specialized workshop. It will be available in approximately two weeks, as of December 25, 2025.
