Large oil on canvas measuring 65cm x 81cm plus frame (70cm x 86cm) depicting the Port of Marseille, painted in 1969, "The Careening." Signed lower right TOUBON, titled, dated, and countersigned on the back. Guy TOUBON is one of the great Provençal painters of international renown. His career is marked by numerous prizes and distinctions. Painter, sculptor, lithographer. This painting is entirely in keeping with the miserabilist movement of the time, whose leading figures included Bernard Buffet, Rebeyrolle, Minaux, etc., who were reacting against the growing trend of abstraction.
