Antique Qing Chinese Sterling Silver & Enamel Box With Mother Of Pearl Inlay
Antique Qing Dynasty Chinese Sterling Silver & Enamel Box with Mother-of-Pearl Inlay – Late 19th / Early 20th Century
A beautifully crafted antique Chinese silver and enamel trinket box, dating from the late Qing dynasty period (circa 1890–1910).
The hinged lid is exquisitely inlaid with mother-of-pearl and abalone shell, forming an intricate naturalistic scene of birds amidst flowering branches and foliage. The shimmering iridescence of the shell contrasts elegantly against the rich silver and enamel detailing.
The sides and base are finely repoussé-worked with floral and foliate motifs, displaying the superb decorative craftsmanship typical of high-quality Chinese silver from the turn of the century.
