Empire Bauve Clock In Paris. Gilt Bronze Athenian Muse - 19th Century Fire Pot
A period clock in the First Empire style - Bauve in Paris.
Wire-driven movement.
Beautifully crafted with modeling and chasing, and superb mercury gilding.
Depicting a muse holding a lyre adorned with a five-pointed star,
with an Athenian woman beside her – a fire pot with ram's head –
beneath the enamel dial, a cartouche framed by branches and surmounted by a quiver,
a large flower basket flanked by butterflies on the base,
which rests on four lion's feet.
This clock is in very good condition,
the movement runs but may need servicing.
We have the key and pendulum.
There are tiny chips on the dial near the keyholes.
Height: 40 cm
Width: 30.5 cm
